Go Electric Music Festival in support of electric trains in Toronto

I attended the Go Electric Music Festival yesterday in support of electric trains in Toronto. It was a great time!

Lots of good music, fun and positive people looking for an electric alternative to 400 diesel trains a day roaring through heavily populated
parts of Toronto.

I will have video online soon of the Festival, so check back.

See their site for more info and what you can do: http://www.cleantrain.ca

Happy Fall and September’s Full Moon!

The first full day of Fall (Autumnal Equinox) for us in the northern hemisphere and the full moon today! Interesting! I hear it’s the first time since 1991 that these two events have happened together.

September’s full moon is also known as the Harvest Moon or the Full Corn Moon.

Jupiter to make close approach tonight!

Take a look in the night sky tonight, because Jupiter is going to be very bright – the brightest it will be until 2022 sources say (yes, I read some other astro blogs!). Apparently, what is happening is that the Earth is passing between Jupiter and the Sun, making our solar system’s largest planet look even bigger. I wonder if this will have any effect on the tides (like the moon does), and hence our selves? A new kind of “full moon fever?”

Full moon today – Sturgeon Moon

Today’s August 24th, 2010 full moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon (as these fish traditionally were more easily caught at this time), or also the Full Red Moon (sometimes it can look reddish as it rises), the Green Corn Moon or also the Grain Moon in reference to the harvest time. It occurs at 5:05 pm EST.

It’s said this full moon will the smallest moon of the year.
