My new novel EARTH PLAN is coming soon!

The caveman abducted from Earth doesn’t understand the ark-like spaceship holding him captive. It studies him and keeps him alive, but it’s a prison. The vast ship, with its own ecosystem and self-aware A.I., is from the Watchers – energetic beings who are the guardians of life. It has been sent on an intergalactic rescue mission to preserve life forms and their DNA from disasters, both natural and created.

The ship has detected an energy shield being hastily constructed around the young Earth by an unknown force. Unsure it will be able to leave Earth after its sampling mission, it continues anyway. Its mission is too important not to try, even if it means being trapped inside the barrier, never to return to the planet of the Watchers with its precious cargo of life.

But the ship and Earth’s life forms are not alone. The servants of the Dark One – a powerful evil entity, have arrived to begin their corruption of the pure beings they find, aiming to ruin and destroy them for all time.

Ancient forces of good and evil fight a galaxy-spanning war across many civilizations. The Watchers must defeat the Dark One or all life in the universe will perish.

EARTH PLAN is an epic science-fiction/fantasy novel of over 100,000 words, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. Take the ride!

It features a wonderful custom-cover illustration by Tania Marie (www.taniamarie.com) with lots of incredible details, just click the cover image to see a larger version! The creation of the cover is a story in itself! Read about it: https://taniamarieartist.wordpress.com/2016/03/05/earth-plan-by-david-sloma-a-story-of-perfect-timing-co-creation/

Release date: June 2, 2016.

Icy shore Lake Ontario and sunset

Posted on by

I made this short video the other day on a walk to the shore of Lake Ontario.

I liked how the ice had formed on the tree branches from the splashing of the waves — that should tell you how cold it was!

The sunset was very red and vivid that day, and I tried to capture some of it at the end of the video. It was filmed on a pocket HD camera (very handy!) so the iris was automatic and closed down some, otherwise I’d have adjusted it to give a better exposure on the sunset. Still, I think it’s a fun little video for what it is. If you look closely, you’ll see the ducks swimming, cavorting, and bathing in the frigid. rough water.

Breakfast

I almost grabbed something naughty for brekkie (no, not THAT kind of naughty) but I thought, no – I’ll stay raw ’till 4 today! So, I made a lovely, green smoothie!

In it: Banana, spinach, dates, spring water, and one drop of oregano essential oil.

Lunch

That first smoothie went down so well and tasty that I made a second one for lunch!

My beautiful picture

This one: bananas, dates, and spring water = yum!

Writer’s word count tracking sheets for 2016 FREE!

Since it’s the start of 2016, I was looking for a new solution to keep track of my daily wiring word counts.

I had been using a Word file, but this has limitations, such as not adding up the total number of words for each month/year (maybe it can do this, but I didn’t want to get that deep into programming it.)

Building an Excel spreadsheet from scratch is beyond my patience and interest. There had to be a better way! Surely someone had some good spreadsheet they were willing to share? I took to the Web.

Today I found a great “mother lode” of FREE Excel spreadsheets made just for writers!

They are by visual artist (and big Star Wars fan) Svenja Gosen.  She not only designs the spreadsheets especially for writers, she puts her original artwork in them. Amazing!

These sheets track daily word counts and display them in a variety of ways, including graphs, yearly word count tracking, and a lot more!

She asks no fee for her spreadsheets, but takes donations (custom enhancement requests with donations go to the front of the line), so why not put a few dollars her way if you like what’s she done? Might even hire her for a cover ;)

Get her FREE Excel sheets here: http://svenjaliv.com/yearly-word-tracker-spreadsheets/

Happy 2016!

MIB Files: Movie Time

movie timeIn this episode, Mr. Unknown relates the following tale: Johnny Starr, up-and-coming director was making a new movie on UFOs. The script was by a writer who claimed the story was mostly real, with some “approved” changes by mysterious sources. Johnny didn’t believe this, until he started seeing the Men In Black.

Saving my rotting cactus 8/9 – Oct 2015 Cactus cut part rotting

The section I cut from the main cactus in June 2015 (see the video on this) only made it until October 2015 when rot overtook it. Think it got too wet being outside in the open, as we had a lot of rain. The main plant is still fine (it was under cover), see the update for October 8, 2015 on the main plant: https://youtu.be/Bx9K0r6ocxg
