1986. A nuclear reactor is in meltdown behind the Iron Curtain, letting off intense radiation. A solider goes into the contaminated zone to help with the clean up but gets something more demonic than a dose of radiation.

The MIB FILES are stories of the paranormal, strange things, and UFO sightings with one thing in common: interactions with the Men In Black (MIB). These stories are stand-alone and can be read in any order.

Halloween Sam: The Candle Man

Halloween in June? Sure, why not! Just published “Halloween Sam: The Candle Man” – a short story/animation script.

Previously only available in my short story collection “Short Stories Volume 1,” this story has been a favourite of mine for a while now.

I’d love to team up with some animators and make this into a short movie one day! Maybe even expand it to a feature. I think the vivid imagery and musical elements (the character of Halloween Sam sings throughout the story), would make a stand-out film.

Inspiration: David Lynch – Twin Peaks season 3

David Lynch, the filmmaker, painter, photographer, fine artist, coffee appreciator, and inner peace/meditation foundation founder is a real inspiration.

Later this month (on May 21st for you Peaks freaks, like me), season 3 of Twin Peaks begins which consists of 18 hours of new episodes, picking up from where the TV series left off in 1991 – about 26 years ago!

This new series is quite a feat for anyone to direct (and co-write, with Mark Frost), and more screen time than many directors have for their entires careers! What an accomplishment for David Lynch! And he’s 71 years old, too! Wow, BOB, wow! (Fans of the show will get that BOB reference.)

The date of 26 years ago also makes the prediction of the character of Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks true, when she said words to the effect of: “I’ll see you again in 25 years” – which was when season 3 was being made.

David Lynch has been a source of inspiration to me for many years, in both my creative endeavours and my life in general. So, thank you David Lynch, and I can’t wait to see the new season of Twin Peaks!

EARTH PLAN – my book

My novel EARTH PLAN has been out for a few months now, but I thought it was time to update the cover. That’s it pictured above, for the ebook. I just wanted to show it off!

Grey aliens invade the primordial Earth to genetically alter humans and enslave them. Ships from the Watchers land too, collecting DNA to preserve it from tampering. An energy shield appears around Earth from an unknown force, to quarantine the Grey infection. Eons later, the Earth is a hell. A secret society fights back with the aid of the Watchers, in a universe-spanning battle for life itself.

March 2017 Full Moon

March 2017 full moon

Very nice full moon here tonight! It’s a clear and cold night, perfect for the bright moonlight to fall on the landscape and illuminate things, almost like it was a pale daylight!

The March full moon is called the Worm Moon, as the worms start to become more active as the ground warms with the coming spring.

Other names are the Sap Moon, as this is the time to harvest Maple Syrup. And also the Crow Moon, as the crows return for spring as well.

I’ve put a picture up I took tonight, but I’ll see if I can get some more later on.

What it was like to be a writer before the Internet: Markets

Before the Internet rose to mass use through the 1990’s, just finding a list of places to -maybe- send hard copies of your writing to involved a trip to the library (or the purchase of an expensive directory that listed writing markets), and a lot of time to go through a thick book (or several) and try to find out which publishers to contact. Then, hope they were still in business by the time your material reached them in the mail!

Today, we writers have got it comparatively easy as far as getting our work to readers is concerned. We can self-publish electronically, or submit our writing to publishers for consideration without even having to print out the manuscripts, pay for postage, envelopes, and return postage (and ink for the printer), and then wait a long time for an answer that may not come. Today, things are much faster and easier, and cheaper!

Animal Tracks in Snow – Feb. 11, 2016

It’s been a fairly easy winter here this year in Ontario, and after a few days of no snow we got about 10cm last night (different story on the west coast of Canada, where Vancouver and the rest of BC has gotten the winter we’ve missed!).

This morning I woke up to look out in the yard and saw 2 or 3 tracks of different animals. I thought one of them looked like a cat (small footprints close together with pads and claws, and in a tight line, with some wavering), and we’ve had a cat roaming around here from time to time, so that was a good bet that’s what made one set of tracks.

The other tracks look to be from a squirrel (smaller footprints with pads and claws, and drag marks in fairly straight lines), of which we have several that visit here on a daily basis.

There was also a third set of tracks, I think, more blocky. Could be the cat again, in different snow, but I’m not sure. I looked online for examples of animal prints in snow, but they were not easy to find.
